Im looking for a new laptop and also looking to get a mobile broadband deal and have come across a few free laptop offers. These deals propose that the laptop is for free if you sign up for a 12, 18 or 24 month contract. This is most definitely how they make their money back. There seems to be a wide range of laptops available and all are good brands like Toshiba, Samsung and Sony. The fact is although you save money from not outlaying the cost of the laptop now, you end up pay for it over the long-term and possibly more than its worth. However, its important to remember you’re getting mobile broadband internet as well. I do have the option of PAYG mobile broadband too.

So, on my on my first post I decided that I wanted to embed some Knight Rider Movie you tube videos. I thought this wold be fairly straight forward but ended up having a problem that was totally messing up the layout of the blog. The video was flung up to the top right, the menus were pushed down to the bottom and I couldn’t figure out what the problem was. Save it a first time and it was ok, save it a send time and it was all messed up again.

The solution

I did a quick search for a you tube plug-in for word press and came across this website with the plugin i needed: EasyTube – YouTube Plugin for WordPress

All you have to do is download it, unzip it and upload the folder and its contents to your plugins folder and then activate it. To add a video you simply copy the url and add it in between the relevant tags i.e for youtube or google video etc. Hit save and voila! No need to mess about with positioning and it doesn’t mess up the look of your blog!

Well, for my first post on this blog I’ve just been overcome with excitement having just watched the 2008 Knight Rider Movie, TV pilot (whatever you want to call it) and this is why have change my header to show off the new Knight Rider car! Having heard the rumors about a knight rider movie I just couldn’t wait to see it. In fact it wasn’t until I was having my hair cut and talking to my hairdresser that I was made aware it had already been aired in the US and so I decided to see if it was available to watch on the Internet (ok, so I downloaded it – who knows when it would be aired on TV in the UK). Anyway, my hairdresser said he thought it was brilliant and this made me even more eager to watch it. There was one thing that had me a little skeptical and this was that, instead of the Trans Am from the original Knight Rider 80′s TV show, the new Knight Rider was a Shelby GT500 Ford Mustang. I just couldn’t see this working and compared to the Trans Am it doesn’t quite meet it’s beauty or coolness. Could I be wrong though?

Indeed I was. Or I think so anyway!

I think it’s also important to remember that this movie is more of a sequel than a remake and so we should expect some changes.

Ok, so there is blatantly a plug for the Ford Mustang going on and no doubt they helped finance this production but does the GT500KR pull it off? Well, it doesn’t beat the Trans Am I must say and they could have chosen a car equally as good or newer even but you know what, I think it pulled it off. The camera shots of the car deliver some mystery to it and there is still the sharp, midnight black colour of the car that makes it look so sexy! What did it for me though was the new shape-shifting feature that KITT 3000 is capable of and the special effects of KITT’s protective shield at work. This shows the nanotechnology at work as KITT not only changes colour but changes form too, growing a rear wing spoiler. Because of this, KITT has identities KITT Hero, Normal KITT (when he’s not being chased by bad guys) and Attack.

There have been some bad reviews on IMDB and elsewhere needlessly complaining about the poor storyline, acting and that there is a lack of substance but what these people forget is that the original series was never about them things. It was more about the KITT, the indestructible, super-fast car that talks and the relationship with Michael Knight along with the jokes, the stunts, the fighting, the women and the fact that Michael was a Knight in shining armour (Pun intended).

A lot of people are irritated by the fact that all or most of the cars in the show are by Ford but who really cares? I certainly don’t. In fact I didn’t even notice!

The two main actors Justin Bruening (as Michael Truecer) and Deanna Russo (she’s hot) are ok too. Val Kilmer as the voice of KITT, I think it sounded a little lifeless compared to the old series and not as friendly but maybe this was deliberate?

David Hasselhoff ‘The Hoff’ also makes a cameo appearance towards the end which i feel is sufficient and not overdone. It’s also left open for some sort of return as he Truceur says to Knight, “Will I see you again” and he replies “I hope so”. Cool!

Maybe it’s the nostalgic effect? Knight Rider along with the A-Team is a series that I and many others grew up on. My Mum told me how I used to jump around to the theme music and then sit completely still for the rest of the show, eyes fixated to the TV. I only hope that there will be more a new TV series will be great!
